Ms. Sandy Kastel is an artist, author, and accelerator. As the founder of WIMA-Women In Music and Arts, Ms. Kastel is passionate and enthusiastic about “empowering artists of all ages through education and mentorship.” The non-profit organization and scholarship fund is focused on promoting and supporting the performing, visual & literary arts in the local and global communities.
The first “Non-Classical Talent Award Winner,” in the Miss America Pageant, Ms. Kastel received a standing ovation from an audience of 50,000 after singing “My Man,” the classic torch song from Funny Girl. Since then, Ms. Kastel has reached audiences around the world, performing in theaters, resorts and Las Vegas showrooms and enjoying a lifelong career in the entertainment industry.
A sculptor, Ms. Kastel created the “Egyptian Princess Series” of bronze busts and figurative pieces, gradually building her body of work as an artist; creating each piece first in clay,
following with the twenty week-long “Lost Wax Process,” and adding the finishing touches with special patinas, a technique incorporated by master sculptors for centuries. Her work has been juried into art shows nationwide and admired by Egyptologists and archaeologists for the symbolic details and quality of workmanship displayed in her technique and style of work.
Owner of SKS Sights and Sounds, Inc., Silk & Satin Records and Empowering Women Productions, Ms. Kastel hasm produced corporate and private events, a television special, a documentary, an independent film, music videos and is currently in production on a musical. She has recorded albums, This Time Around; Only in Las Vegas; and composed and recorded her own songs on her newest album Indiana Rain, due the fall of 2012. Her songs are heard worldwide online and through licensing of her songs in other countries for compilation projects, commercials, television and films, including “Over the Rainbow,” “Strangers in the Night,” “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” and her Christmas single, “Santa Baby.”
As an author in the Life Choices books, Ms. Kastel is an advocate of taking responsibility for one’s own successes. A role model and an inspiration, she continues her passion with her Empowering Women Workshops: “Don’t Tell Me I Can’t;” “5 Steps to Pursue Your Passion;” “When Life Takes a Detour;” and “Discover the Diamonds Hidden in Your Dreams.”
As a radio show host on KLAV, Ms. Kastel interviews guests in the arts on “Women in Music and Arts,” shares insights into the world of jazz with “Jazz & Cocktails,” and gives her
listening audience an inside look into the world of production shows, television and films in, “Behind the Scenes with Sandy Kastel & James Kelly.”
She donates her time to charitable organizations and continues to do community outreach through the Women in Music and Arts Foundation, “Empowering Women in Music and Arts through Education & Mentorship.”
