Melanie Shafer currently serves as Public Relations Account Executive at Quillin Advertising, Public Relations & Social Media, and a boutique integrated firm located in Summerlin. Shafer’s experience spans across a variety of industries, including non-profits, hotels, gaming, entertainment, nightlife, retail, dining, hospitality and tourism. She specializes in media relations, social media, grand openings and special events, rebranding campaigns, press conferences, communications plans and press materials.
Prior to joining Quillin, Shafer worked at Caesars Entertainment where she handled entertainment and nightlife for the nine properties on the Las Vegas Strip, working with some of the world’s most notable entertainers and venues. Shafer worked for nearly three years at Kirvin Doak Communications, where she served on a variety of accounts including Greenspun Media Group, Liberace Museum and the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Shafer graduated from Centennial High School in 2002. She then headed up north to the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing Management (Go Wolfpack!). During her time at UNR, Shafer was a three-time Dean’s List honoree. She was also a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, where she held such positions as Standards Board Officer and Historian.
Following graduation in 2006, Shafer worked as a Public Relations Account Coordinator at The Glenn Group. She also served as the Communications Chair for the Northern Nevada chapter of Junior Achievement.
Shafer is active in the community and volunteers her time for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation and the American Lung Association. She is currently an active member of the Pi Beta Phi Las Vegas Alumni chapter. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, traveling to the beach and spending time with family.
