Jenny Yu Mattson serves as the Director of Global Sustainability for Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Jenny developed her love of nature from her hometown of Hangzhou, China, a city with beautiful lakes, mountains, and many ancient historical sites.
As her key responsibility, Jenny develops and implements strategic corporate environmental responsibility programs for the business operations of Las Vegas Sands, a company which has become the leading global developer of integrated resorts that feature premium accommodations, world-class gaming and entertainment, convention and exhibition facilities, celebrity chef restaurants, and many other amenities.
Jenny is one of the founding members for the Sands ECO 360o Global Sustainability Program, which focuses on continuously improving the Las Vegas Sands’ environmental stewardship. She develops programs to reduce company’s environmental footprint, engage Team Members in sustainability efforts, and leverage the best practices of each property to improve the overall performance of the entire organization. She was instrumental in managing the LEED Existing Buildings Certification process, and thereby making The Venetian Las Vegas the largest hotel in the world to receive the LEED EB Gold Certification.
Jenny is also responsible for measuring and reporting on Las Vegas Sands’ sustainability efforts through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the world’s only global environmental disclosure system. In 2013, Las Vegas Sands achieved a position in CDP’s Global 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) which demonstrated the company’s leading practice for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use, and transparency of climate change strategy. Jenny also developed the Sands ECO360° Meetings Program which is a holistic approach to providing environmentally preferable choices and options to meeting planners and clients.
Ms. Yu Mattson initially joined Las Vegas Sands as a Leadership Development Program Associate. In two years, she rotated through a majority of the corporate and property departments, and had the opportunity to work with a wide range of people, from senior executives to entry-level Team Members. She is also a graduate of Leadership Las Vegas, the premier executive development program in Southern Nevada.
Prior to joining Las Vegas Sands, Jenny worked at Treasure Islands Las Vegas and Radisson Plaza Hotel Hangzhou, China. Jenny received her Master of Science Degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and her Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Tourism Management from Zhejiang University, China.
