Ms. Stephens is a health care professional with more than 10 years of experience and an extensive background in managed care. She has spent the past seven years building a career at UnitedHealthcare, specifically in network management.
Ms. Stephens has augmented her professional experience with significant community work, as a volunteer legislative advocate for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, a Governor-appointed member of the Nevada State Board of Occupational Therapy, a County-Commission appointed member of the Clark County Conservation Committee and a member of the Board of Directors for the statewide non-profit, EnergyFit Nevada. In 2012, Ms. Stephens was publicly-elected to a six-year term on the Board of Regents, which oversees the eight institutions of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
In her role as a Regent, Ms. Stephens serves as Vice Chair of the Audit committee as well as the Investment and Facilities, Business and Finance and Health Sciences committees. Additionally, she is one of two Regents on the SB391 legislative interim study concerning the governance and funding structure of community colleges across the state.
A two-time graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Ms. Stephens holds a Master of Education degree in Health Promotion and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration. She also studied at the Universidad Andres Bello in Santiago, Chile as an undergraduate. Ms. Stephens brings a unique level of expertise, insight and innovation to her all of her work. She understands the need for interagency cross-collaboration as a key component of fiduciary responsibility as Nevada grows into a strong, diversified economy.
