Carole Bellmyre, founder of Distinguished Publishing Company, turned an enterprising dream into a reality in 1989. She published the Distinguished Women & Men in Nevada pictorial/biographical book series to honor accomplished Nevadans for their professional and civic achievements. The directories are used as a valuable reference tool in Nevada’s communities.

A National Book Award Winner, Ms. Bellmyre published the 25 Notable Las Vegas Women book that included the life histories of twenty-five outstanding Las Vegas women selected by Distinguished Publishing Company and their distinguished panel of women. In addition, she published Romantic Visions that had a national circulation and JAZZ Las Vegas that captured on film the energy of this wonderful American art form.

Carole’s long-term publishing career has been a natural outgrowth of her experiences in photography. She has professionally photographed commercial advertising and portraiture for nationally recognized publications. A sample of her published works includes Gentlemen’s Quarterly, Glamour, B.B.W., Los Angeles Magazine and Variety. Her work has been featured in Nevada Woman magazine, the Las Vegas Review-Journal and numerous CD and album cover’s.

She recognizes the value of community involvement and is a strong supporter of education. That’s why Ms. Bellmyre established the Distinguished Scholarship Fund at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and College of Southern Nevada in 2000. Through her publications and numerous fundraising events she has provided Distinguished Scholarships to deserving Nevada students in need of financial aid.

In 2011, Ms. Bellmyre established the new Distinguished Network to meet the changes needed in a more global world. The www.distinguishedwomenandmen.com website allows Nevadans to connect with one another by offering in-depth biographies, monthly features and video logs.

Carole’s memberships have included the National Federation of Press Women; National League of American Pen Women, (former Nevada state president); Professional Photographers of America; charter member, Women Visionaries and a charter member of the National Association of Women Business Owners in Nevada. She has served on the media committee for the Nevada Governors Conference on Women, The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and served on the advisory board for The Women’s Development Center.

“It is an honor to know and work with such accomplished women & men and have their support of my Distinguished books over the years. It’s wonderful to know they have the confidence in me to publish their life histories.”
